Teens and Attorneys: Partner in Success (TAP)
The Teens and Attorneys Partner for Success (TAPS) is chaired by Jeffrey Edwards and will be held July 11-15. 2011. This year, sixteen male students from middle schools in Durham have been selected and will participant in this week long camp hosted at North Carolina Central University in Durham and funded by the endowment grant from the North Carolina Bar Association Foundation.
TAPS: The goal of TAPS is to empower young men transitioning into 9th grade by teaching them skills that will enable them to be more successful in their high school careers. Our intention is to expose them to support systems and resources that they may not have access to otherwise, including:
Conflict Resolution Skills
Civic Engagement
Community Awareness
Visit to Polk Correctional Facility
Job Interviewing Skills
Personal Financial Literacy
Relevant Information:
Students will be picked up at their home (or designated place) each morning and dropped off each day.
Each day the students will have Law Students, Attorneys and Judges working with them.
Parents will be welcome on the final day when final certificates and stip-ends are awarded.
